Biography:
James M. Scaramozza, a founding member of the firm, has extensive experience in the development and financing of real estate, representing nonprofit
and charitable organizations, developers, financial institutions, and community development organizations in diverse areas, including:
- Development of commercial, residential, and mixed-use properties often in urban areas involving federal and state tax credits and other incentives from federal, state, and local authorities
- Affordable housing development, representing non-profit sponsors, for-profit developers, municipal housing authorities, and other leading organizations in the acquisition, financing, development, and operation of such housing
- Representation of financial institutions and loan portfolio purchasers concerning problem loan restructures, workouts and enforcement actions
- Representation of both commercial lenders and developers in documenting and closing real estate development, commercial finance, and secured transactions
- Formation of various partnerships and other entities in transactions with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, and other state and municipal agencies that provide grants, loans, and other subsidies
- Representation of business clients in both corporate and finance and real estate matters, including leasing, banking, employment, and property issues
