Our practice includes all aspects of real estate law, including representation of developers, lenders, tenants, public/private ventures, and other end users. Our engagements include formation of ownership entities, land acquisition, negotiation and drafting of financing, construction and leasing documents, and attention to zoning, permitting and environmental matters. In addition, the firm has extensive experience representing governmental and quasi-governmental agencies in multi-family and other affordable housing, redevelopment and educational development.
Recent matters handled by the firm include the representation of:
- An international insurance company in connection with its facilities real estate assets throughout the United States, including a major urban redevelopment project
- A major retailer with respect to its regional real estate needs, including leasing, acquisition, planning, and permitting
- Hartford's largest office building with respect to all of its leasing requirements
- A national commercial mortgage lender in connection with its regional real estate loan portfolio
- A national commercial mortgage-backed securities conduit lender for its Connecticut transactions
- The City of Hartford in connection with all of its school construction projects
- Two regional malls in significant construction litigation, landlord/tenant disputes, and bankruptcy issues
- A public company in litigation arising in connection with the operation and management of its corporate headquarters
- A national insurance company in connection with the downsizing of its real estate facilities requirements in Connecticut
- A political subdivision of the State of Connecticut in the planning, acquisition, development, construction, and tax exempt financing of regional public schools
- Several regional developers in connection with their acquisition, permitting, leasing, and financing of retail, office and mixed use projects, including the negotiation of anchor tenant leases
- An out-of-state private wholesale company in connection with all of its facilities real estate requirements throughout the United States, including many build-to-suit lease transactions
- A local redevelopment agency in connection with the planning, acquisition, and disposition of multi-parcel urban redevelopment projects
- Several local and out-of-state manufacturing companies in connection with their facilities real estate requirements in Connecticut
- Two major, privately-funded national investors in the acquisition, financing, leasing, and disposition of office buildings and retail properties throughout the United States, including the implementation of §1031 tax-deferred exchanges
- Several private investors in the acquisition of problem loan portfolios, conversion of the loan portfolios to real property, and the disposition of such properties, including environmentally compromised properties
- Numerous real estate owners in the defeasance of CMBS loans
